Bake or Dare was inspired by the infamous sleepovers we used to have in middle school, during which we'd stay up until all hours of the night playing Truth or Dare and creating baking experiments in the kitchen. Not all of our "experiments" were edible, but we always learned something from them! Now our experiments are a bit more rational, arising out of a desire to make recipes more wholesome or just to have fun. Here is our place to chronicle these adventures, so that you can learn from our mistakes and reap the benefits of the successes!
And just who are we, anyway?
Cake Mama is the unofficial baker of the family. She's been decorating cakes since she was 12 years old! Recently she's becoming more adventurous with her cake decorating and has been exploring the wonderful world of fondant and edible ink (you should've seen the Wonderland-themed cake she created for her niece Little Lovely's first birthday!). She also makes a mean trifle. Her favorite baked goodies are banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, and anything with Pumpkin!
Cake Mama is mother to one precious boy who is quickly becoming a young man, as well as two cats. She lives with her long-term boyfriend a la Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. They are currently on the hunt for their first home so that Cake Mama can finally have the retro kitchen of her dreams.
When she's not baking, Cake Mama is devouring novels or knitting gifts for friends.
The Animator's Wife joined the family when she married Cake Mama's twin brother in 2005. A lifetime chocoholic, her favorite desserts are brownies and chocolate chip cookies. She also enjoys baking her own bread and learning how to cook things "the old-fashioned way."
The Animator's Wife recently became a stay-at-home mom to her daughter Little Lovely. Her husband Retro Nick is a work-from-home animator. They really should get out more! But they keep themselves busy. In addition to Bake or Dare, The Animator's Wife runs a crochet website with her cat (you read that right). You can follow their crochet adventures at CrochetKitten.com.
